DHMG—Dominican Welcomes Matthew Ryan, DO

Dignity Health Medical Group—Dominican, a nonprofit affiliate of Dignity Health, is pleased to welcome Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist Matthew Ryan, D.O. to its network of physicians in Santa Cruz County. Dr. Ryan will begin practice today, August 20, at the Dominican Physical Medicine & Rehabiliation Center on Soquel Drive in Santa Cruz. As a PM&R specialist, Dr. Ryan’s goal is to help patients improve their quality of life by decreasing pain and enhancing performance without surgery.
His medical specialties include electromyography, interventional spine procedures, musculoskeletal conditions, neuromuscular rehabilitation, ostepathic manipulation, spasticity management, spine care and sports injuries. Dr. Ryan completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at Stanford Hospitals & Clinics, and his internship at Downey Regional Medical Center, in southeast Los Angeles County. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is a graduate of Pepperdine University. An active clinical and community volunteer, Dr. Ryan has donated his time to a number of organizations, including the Life Rolls On Foundation, where he volunteered medical services at surfing events for people with spinal cord injuries.
He also accompanied the Christian Medical & Dental Association (CMDA) on a Medical Mission Trip to Nicaragua, and was involved in a series of outreach programs to engage underserved Hispanic communities in Florida. Prior to medical school, Dr. Ryan worked for a number of years as an educator in Los Angeles, and continues to lecture on a range of PM&R-related subjects, in addition to broader community health issues. Julie Jaffe, MD Joins Dignity Health Medical Group-Dominican

Dignity Health Medical Group—Dominican, a nonprofit affiliate of Dignity Health, announced today that oncologist Julie Jaffe, MD has joined its network of physicians in Santa Cruz County. Dr. Jaffe will be practicing at the Dominican Oncology & Hematology Care Center, opening July 1, 2013. Board certified in oncology and hematology, Dr. Jaffe is dedicated to providing the highest level of care, in a compassionate and supportive environment. Dr. Jaffe worked as an oncologist and hematologist in Pennsylvania for a number of years prior to moving to Santa Cruz, where she has worked for the past year with a private oncology practice in the community. She is now excited to be transitioning her oncology/hematology practice to Dignity Health Medical Group—Dominican.
She is a graduate of Yale University School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Jaffe was fellowship trained in oncology and hematology at Johns Hopkins University. The Dominican Oncology & Hematology Care Center is part of an integrated system of care for cancer patients.
